UM East Asian Library in the "Passage to China"

On Saturday April 4th, Li Zhu and Su Chen, East Asian Library, and Sally Iverson, Information Technology Service, participated in the "Passage to China" event at Mall of America. The event was organized by the Chinese Heritage Foundation, and the activity offered by the EAL was decorating Chinese opera masks! This was the second time that the EAL participated in the event and offered one of the most popularly activities which was initially suggested by Lichun Shen, Technical Services.
The event ran from 11:00am to 5:00pm and attracted many children and their parents from start to end, 420 masks were distributed and 180 East Asian Library brochures were given out. 50 organizations in the Twin cities area participated in the event. Tea ceremony, dragon dances, and live traditional music playing were the entertainment portion of the
program. As you can see, wonderful time was had by all!
